Possible Intertitles
On iMovie I put together some intertitles I could use of production companies and some effects that could be used for the text in the trailer.
I've also tested what the film titles itself could look like, I tried to give it the effect of a neon light flickering on and gave it a sound effect but I don't think it worked to well.

POLICE
Where did the incident take place? Do you require any medical assistance?
MAX
No I’m fine. It happened in Birmingham City Centre on.. Gibb Street.
POLICE
Can you tell me exactly what happened?
MAX
I was talking to my friend on the phone and I heard a girl yell from behind me. I turned around and I saw a girl being pulled away but that’s all I saw before I was knocked out.
POLICE
Did you see what the person looked like?
MAX
No, they had their face covered.

FAITH
Did you call the police?
MAX
Yeah I rang them as soon as I woke up. They didn’t do shit!
FAITH
Someone needs to do something, who knows what’s happened to that girl!
MAX
We could go back to where it happened and see if we can find anything. The police might listen then.
FAITH
…I don’t know, Max. It seems pointless. They probably won’t listen.
MAX
Come on, we might as well try.
Scene 5
MAX AND FAITH RETURN BACK TO MAX’S HOUSE AFTER LOOKING FOR ANY INFORMATION. THEY FIND A NOTE ON THE BOARD THEY SET UP.
MAX
Hey, what’s this?
MAX TAKES THE NOTE OFF THE BOARD.

MAX
What do you mean another person?
PASSERBY
Yeah, I heard a few people have gone missing recently in this area.
MAX TURNS TO TALK TO FAITH BUT SHE’S NOT THERE.
MAX
Shit, where did she go? Thanks for info.
MAX RUSHES AWAY LOOKING FOR FAITH.
Scene 7
MAX IS TRYING TO CALL FAITH WHEN SHE GETS A CALL FROM AN UNKNOWN NUMBER.
MAX
Hello? Who is this?
UNKNOWN CALLER
Hello Max, it’s nice to finally talk to you. I’m glad I got your number from Faith… finally.
MAX
What do you mean? Where’s Faith? Who the fuck are you?!
UNKNOWN CALLER
You don’t need to know who I am. Meet me at the warehouse on Holland Street tonight.

Production Schedule
Production Schedule
Here is the schedule for when we are going to film and also take pictures for the print products:
Weather
I decided to check the weather for when we will be filming in Birmingham City Centre so that we know it won't be raining when we want to film.
Because it might be raining we may need to find somewhere to film where it is undercover.
We also needed to film some scenes when it's light then later when it's dark, so I found out what time it will go dark on Sunday.
Here is the conversation we had to organise what time we are going to meet up in town:
But we had some problems filming on that day so we made another production schedule for another time:
And the weather for that day is mainly cloudy so we should be okay to film:

Props
Props
The props we will need is the wall of evidence, which are normally made up of pictures, newspaper articles, polaroid pictures, notes and sometimes tape connecting ideas together, such as:
Here's the wall I made:
We will have a missing person poster, that Max will be putting up around Birmingham city centre. Then we need a note written to Max and Faith as well. Also we need a note that is sent to Max and Faith, threatening them to stop.
We will also need some fake blood for the second scene so we might just use watered down ketchup, and a weapon for Max in scenes 8 and 9.
Also for the scene where Max and Faith finds Louise's phone I have used my old phone with a smashed screen, so it looks like it was lost by Louise when she was taken:

Print Production
For the film poster I would like to use a double exposure effect, with the protagonist Max's silhouette or portrait with a skyline in the background, or part of the city. Similar to these ones:

Character Profiles
Max Caulfield
Max is the main protagonist in our trailer and she is 19 years old. Max has a few friends but she's not particularly popular, but she likes the few friends that she has. Max would be considered to be part of Group E in the Jicnar Scale as she is a student. Max has a positive motivated attitude and always wants to do the right thing as she wants to find out what has happened to Faith and the other people that have been kidnapped almost immediately, however at times she may seem as though she isn't this way as she can be skeptical. As for Max's lifestyle, she would be like an average teenager, spending a lot of time with her friends or doing her work as this is what is important to her, although since the kidnappings this has become the priority in her life as she doesn't want other people to get harmed so she wants to find them.
As for costumes, Max will dress like an average teenager. She is always seen in jeans, a t-shirt and hoodies as this is what she is comfortable in, and it's also something casual which is how most people her age dress. We have chosen for Max to dress this way because we think that it makes Max more relatable as our target audience will be people that dress similar, and they may think it's strange if she dressed differently. We are trying to represent an average teenage girl as this is what most girls are like and we want our trailer to appeal to them.
Here is what Max might wear:
Faith Green
Faith is Max's friend that helps her figure out what is going on and where everybody is going after being kidnapped. Faith is 18 years old, but like Max she is a student so she also fits within Group E of the Jicnar Scale. Faith has a slightly negative attitude towards what is going on as at first she doesn't really think they should do anything but she agrees to help Max anyway, and then as they find more clues she becomes more positive and wants to find out what is happening to everyone. As Faith is friends with Max her lifestyle is similar to Max's except she's more outgoing.
Faith's costume is going to be similar to Max's as she is around the same age so she would dress similar, however Faith also likes to wear dresses and skirts unlike Max. Faith is also interested in makeup and wears it often. Her style is also casual like Max's though. We are trying to represent girls who are also normal 18 year olds but are slightly more girlier than how Max is dressed, as we want to appeal to all types of girls.
Louise Foster As we only see the girl that gets kidnapped once the audience won't know much about her. She will be wearing similar clothes to Max and Faith as she is around the same age as them.
Alex Stansfield
They are the villain in our trailer, and will be in their late teens to early 20s. Not much else is known about them apart from the bad things they have done. They will be wearing dark clothes so that they blend in with the crowd and go unnoticed, also to make them less memorable and generic so when they talk to Max in scene 6 she won't be able to recognise them that easily. To construct the representation of a villain and make them seem more threatening I will use some low angle shots of them in the trailer, and possibly have the soundtrack of the trailer turn kind of eerie or sinister, to emphasize that they aren't a good character.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HitDB-Be_74

These are from film soundtracks like Drive, Tron Legacy, Interstellar which aren't all from my the same genre as my film but they are quite eerie and can build tension but are simple enough that they won't distract from the dialogue. Also some are the instrumental versions of songs, so you can have the tune without the lyrics distracting from the trailer.
I sent an email to the record company asking for permission to use some of the soundtracks in my trailer:
Locations
Scene 1 and 2 -
I've chosen to film around Digbeth and the Custard Factory to get an urban and industrial feel, especially with all the graffiti around that area. It's also quite empty around that area so there won't be that many people around.
Scene 3 -
The scenes set at Max's house will be shot at my own house.
Scene 5-
For the scenes inside Max's I will create a wall with the clues and evidence they've found so far.
Scene 9-
For the warehouse at the end of the trailer, I plan to use a car park in Birmingham that is usually empty and looks like an abandoned warehouse.
Risk Assessment
-When shooting in the city centre it is going to be dark, so we have to be careful when filming on the road incase of cars.
-When filming the kidnapping scenes we need to be careful that no one gets injured.
-For the scene where there's a knife in the wall the actors have to be careful in case it falls out, or when she pulls it off the wall.

Treatment for Movie Trailer
Production Company Name: Black Mesa Production
Production team members: Beth Mann, Rachel Ford (me)
Title of production: Dark City
Genre: Neo noir, mystery
Synopsis: A teenage girl, Max, is out late and witnesses her friend getting kidnapped, but after getting no help from the police she takes matters in to her own hands, and with the help of her other friend, investigates the kidnapping herself.
Detailed narrative:
Equilibrium - Everything is normal before anyone is kidnapped. They are all just living their lives normally and getting on with what they need to do.
Disequilibrium - Max's friend, Louise, is kidnapped by somebody. Max witnesses the kidnapping but when she tries to help she's knocked unconscious by an unknown person. When she wakes up she is confused and disorientated, and the police offer her no help and don't believe her. She gets help from her friend Faith who is skeptical about what has happened but still decide to help Max. So they decide to investigate further but are sent an anonymous message warning them to stop trying to find out what has happened because they may uncover things that they don't want to know about the situation. Max decides to ignore the warning and carries on trying to uncover the truth. So she and Faith go back to the place of the first kidnapping to put up missing posters of Louise, but a stranger goes up to Max and starts talking to her about other people that have gone missing. Max goes to tell Faith what she had just heard but can't find her, and can't get through when she tries to call her. So she goes back to her house, hoping she will find Faith there, but gets a phone call from an unknown caller telling her to go somewhere that night if she wants to see Faith again. Max grabs a weapon to defend herself and goes out, she gets to what appears to be an abandoned warehouse. When she goes in she finds Faith and Louise together but unconscious, and the stranger from before comes out to talk to her, revealing that he took them and plans to get Max. Max takes out the weapon and the two fight, but Max manages to overwhelm him and knock him out. Making sure that her friends are okay she calls the police.
Equilibrium - Everything is back to normal after the criminals have been arrested and put in prison. The people who were kidnapped told the police everything that happened. Everyone has gone back to how life was before it all happened, and everyone is safe.
Intended target audience: My target audience is young adults and teenagers who would fit within groups C, D and E, but some may be higher. I think that my audience would be a mixture of males and females as they both enjoy this type of film. My target audience would be people who like to go to the cinema, and people who like films that have a mysterious edge to them.
Key characters:
Max - Max is the main protagonist in our trailer, who is 19 years old. She usually wears regular clothes such as jeans t-shirts and hoodies.
Faith - Faith is Max's friend who helps her find out what is going on. She is also 18 years old. She dresses quite plain and average, and she wears jeans, skirts, hoodies and t-shirts. She also wears converse or vans.
The way the characters are shown is good representation of what someone of this age would wear, as younger people tend to just wear comfortable cloths as most of them are still in education so they have no reason to dress differently.
Mise-en-scene: The film should have quite a dark and gritty feel to it, to fit with the genre I am working in. To do this I will have quite dark lighting to reflect the mood of the film and also use quite unusual camera shots to make the film feel slightly uneasy, maybe by breaking the forth walk and things like that. Then to add the mysterious element of the film I plan to shot the trailer in a way that you only see glimpses of the film, like if there is a shot on someone's face then had of their face might be obsur or hidden by a shadow, to make it feel like you are only getting snapshots of the action.

Then to add the mysterious element of the film I plan to shot the trailer in a way that you only see glimpses of the film, like if there is a shot on someone's face then had of their face might be obsur or hidden by a shadow, to make it feel like you are only getting snapshots of the action.

Audience Research
Film pitch that was shown to five people from my intended audience:
I then got some feedback from Survey Monkey about my idea:
A teenage girl, Max, is out late at night and witnesses her friend getting kidnapped, but as she goes to get help she is knocked unconscious by an unknown person. When she wakes she is confused and disoriented, she goes to the police but they don't take her seriously and don't seem to care, so she takes matter into her own hands and investigates what happened and where the kidnapped person could be. She enlists the help of a friend Faith to help her, who is skeptical of the whole thing but goes along with it. When investigating they realise that the person taken was just one of many to have gone missing. So thinking that it's all some how connected and the message has something to do with it, they investigate further but they receive an anonymous message warning them to stop as they may uncover things they really don't want to know. But she ignores the warning and carries on, but because of this Faith gets taken.

Mainly people thought I needed to be more detailed about the characters in my film and come up with a proper conclusion to the plot. But overall they seemed interested in it.
I then spoke to the other person on my production team, Beth, and she gave me some feedback:
